The 2019 BMW X5 M50d is a particularly rare combination of brute force and diesel efficiency. Its 3.0-litre inline-six uses four turbochargers to produce 294kW and a huge 760Nm, giving this large luxury SUV a 0-100km/h time of just 5.2 seconds, performance that would have been remarkable even among petrol-powered SUVs of the era.
